Anson Ng is a landscape painter whose practice explores the intersections of Canadian wilderness and Chinatowns, positioning both as integral components of our national landscape.
   
    Growing up between his family’s restaurant in Toronto’s Chinatown and camping through all four seasons in Ontario, Ng developed an early understanding of landscapes as places that ground collective history, memory, and cultural identity.

    His process involves oil painting directly outside on location in both urban and natural environments, often working into the night through changing weather and across the seasons. Through this dual focus, Ng treats diasporic and natural landscapes as inseparable parts of the greater Canadian landscape.
